Wow! Thanks for the different translations! It's like looking at the same thing from different angles... which, now that I think about it, is a bit like poetry itself. :)

for some reason, aside from the obvious stanza breaks, this one seems very different from the other translations.

I'm not saying I'd go far to meet you,
no further than Ch'ang-feng Sands.

those last lines have a certain tone that wasn't present in the other translations.

i definitely prefer it, though i can't judge how accurate the translation is. just in and of itself, i like it.

Same. The second version posted here seems a little too literal, and I just prefer this one to the first, although like you I don't know which is more "accurate."

As someone interested in languages, I like looking at how things are similarly translated, and what got interpreted differently. In a way seeing all of these kind of gives a fuller version of the original writer's intention -- or maybe possible intention.
