I'm not sure if this is believably (even for the yanks) but apparently the Pentagon tried to build a gay bomb i.e. a bomb to turn the enemy soldiers "gay, and therefore unable to defend themselves".

I read an article about the "gay bomb" some time last year, can't remember where but it was quoted among some of the weirder ideas cooked up by the US military.
