This is only my opinion, but I would say do NOT read any Steinbeck. Or at least not unless you really want something crushingly depressing. I mean, I guess I've only read two by him, but they were both so horribly depressing that I don't ever want to read any others.
I feel like, if I am ever going to do things like be on Jeopardy or pretend I'm well-read, I should at least give Gatsby a go. I know it's depressing, I saw most of the movie. =)
I am currently re-reading Crime and Punishment! (Mostly because I've become addicted to a series of murder mysteries set in present-day Russia whose main character is named after Dostoyevsky's detective. Which in turn I started reading because I've become an intense fangirl for a Russian character from a TV show that ended before my parents were even married...)
Hee, awesome! Well maybe that's just another sign I should re-read. After the book about the Scopes trial, dangit! (It's an interesting subject but the writing is really, really dull.)

I forgot we read Rebecca this past year. I thought it was longer. Then again, I thought Course of the Heart was more recent, so what do I know? Look, a rock!

I wouldn't have remembered that Course of the Heart was over a year ago if it weren't for Katherine remembering it! I think it was bad enough to scar me for longer than a year.
