And I Think To Myself, Who Died Today? Do The Hustle!

Jul 06, 2006 08:55

Jazz vocalist and trumpet great, Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong, died of a heart attack 35 years ago today at the age of 69.

8 years later, a heart attack took the life of Van McCoy at age 39.

Who the hell was Van McCoy, you ask?

He wrote 'The Hustle'. Whoopdee-shit, right?

'What a Wonderful World' is a beautiful song. Oh, I lost the Day Tripper tab you sent me. Can you send me another?

oh god. sadly I know how to do the hustle thanks to my "dance" portion of 9th grade gym class. I went through 9th grade gym twice (never made it all the way through either..) so I got blessed with the dance unit twice. It was funny as all hell seeing the testosterene failed ex football star (all gym teachers are either lesbians or failed ex football stars you know) doing this strange dance which involved "shaking the pineapple tree" and some weird jazz hand thing and spinning in circles. It made my day.
