…but it's been possible to play the original on a Speccy emulator for well over a decade, so what else do you need? :-)

Atic Atac I can take or leave, but I'm quite taken by the idea of a fully 3D version of Knight Lore.

I agree, but again there are several versions you can play with an emulator (including PC versions) and you can legally download them courtesy of Ian Bell.
