This is such a great premise! I've never seen a story where Laura's family survives the attacks. It's a great way to keep the more "human" side of her at the forefront, as we see with how she trusts Bill. I really enjoyed this! Thank you!

It took me a while (and a bit of help from the wonderful i_paint_the_sky) to figure out how to work with the prompt I was given. We figured Laura would have been less closed off if her family had lived and I ran with it from there.

I'm glad you enjoyed!

I loved it! Thank you so much! I admit that I saw this going in a completely different way (i.e. an AU without the attack), but OMG! This was awesome! And...it could be the start of a whole new series. Just sayin'. :-)

I also like that she told Bill first, and leaned on him for support.

Thanks again!!

I suspected you might have wanted something along that line, but I was having a hard time getting it to work. I'm glad you liked how it turned out.

You're welcome!

I love seeing the difference in Laura, with having her family alive. The scene where she tells her family is heartbreaking because we know it's only going to get worse, but I love the idea of her having all of that support, for once.

Great job!

Thanks!

It was really interesting, trying to figure out how having her family around would change things.

Very interesting idea, having her family survive. It really brings out the humanity we sometimes would miss in our dear Laura. And the scenes with Bill were crafted perfectly.

I figured losing her family is one of the big things that made her the way she is, so it was interesting to explore how it changed things.

Oddly, the hardest thing in the scenes with Bill was staying out of his head. This is the first time I've written an entire piece from Laura's point of view, so it was a bit of an adventure.
