Me? I stop in the MIDDLE of the raod. Nothing makes me madder(well, somethings do, but anyway) than people who don't stop for funerals or ambulances and so on. That is rude and obnoxious. I have, if on a very busy four lane road, slowed to a creep. But mostly, I stop.
I don't actually pull all the way off the road. I stop and pull over to the side. We live in a small town, and that's just what people in small towns to - out of respect. Also, our small towns still have police officers stop traffic at intersections and stand with their hats off.
I don't actually drive, but if I did, I would certainly stop. I remember being driven to my grandfather's funeral and seeing people by the side of the road taking their hats off and, in the case of those who were Catholic, crossing themselves as a sign of respect. It was oddly comforting to know that these complete strangers sympathised enough to take a moment out of their busy day, so if I have the opportunity to do something similar for someone else at such a difficult time, I will.
It's a big pet peeve of mine when people don't show respect to things like this, or don't pull over for ambulances or fire trucks. The way I think about it is, if I was part of the family that was in the funeral procession I would want them to stop for me, and if I was in the ambulance or my house is on fire I would want them to pull over. Do unto others as you would want done unto you.
