Perfect pitch and spontaneous group chanting

crosstables's recent entry wondering "if the exposure of billions of soccer fans to an unyielding vuvuzelic B-flat will cause many of them to be able to hum that same B-flat later, in a vuvuzelafree environment" stimulated a vague memory of reading something about how whenever people chant "AIR-BALL" it's always seems to be an F ("AIR") and a D ("BALL").

Holy crap, it works! I just hummed the vuvuzela note, then walked to the piano and it was a good (not perfect) B-flat. Definitely the right note, I was just a little out of tune.
