If these events had happened in the US, there would have been a dozen killed, rather than 20 injured and none killed. Why? Because the rampagers would have used guns, rather than a hammer and a knife.

The usual gun-lobby responses are either that "criminals" can get guns anyway (but these people didn't get guns, because they didn't think "I'm a criminal; better get a gun in case I lose it and start killing kids, so I can so so more efficiently), or "if only the children had had guns, they could have killed him before he did so much damage".
