Just, yeah, wow. I don't think this would have quite the punch if you hadn't left in the beginning. I love how The Shadow doesn't even need to lift a finger to solve the situation. The awe of the grandson adds a wonderful feel of respect to the situation.
I think I'm proudest of this one, so far. To be fair, he did knock the criminal's gun away... but yes, the deciding move was made by the elderly lady. I wanted to subtly hint the phrase could apply to her, too. Perhaps he knew her from some earlier adventures long ago...
