In a generic sense, we all have problems in one way or another; that doesn't mean we can't help other people and be helped in turn.

However, in a more specific sense, it depends a lot on exactly what problems the two of you have. There are some people with certain problems that I would want nothing to do with.

Which is exactly why I don't have a comm trying to counsel racists to a better understanding of what they don't quite get.

sometimes it's easier to see the solution to someone elses problems then your own. Just because you have some problems shouldn't mean you can't help others. Just so long as your problems don't color your advice in a way that makes theirs worse.

You're not helping them, you're mocking them.

gotta do something. if what I'm doing is wrong, sure ain't right i'll give you that, then over time I'll fine tune.

What is it with you and pointing fingers at people who are "worse" than you to justify your own actions?

I never said they were necessarily worse. I'm not really justifying...and if I am it's not all that intentional. I'm trying to help and I don't know what I'm talking about yet but I am learning.

This isn't just a fad or some wacky idea, I'm serious.

Got a lot of reading to do.

you need to know yourself before you can help others

good in theory but I've been helping people for years before I had a good enough sense of who I was. granted, i know myself now...

I think if you have the ability, you should always try and help others. Regardless of your own circumstances.

that's generally my philosophy. my life might be in better shape if i worked more on me than my friends and people I just happen upon...but oh well.

But you have to ask yourself, honestly, if you stopped trying to help others would you work on yourself more? The answer to this is probably no. You just wouldn't reach out to other people either.

The hard truth of the matter is this though. Noone is ever going to change unless they really want to. No matter what external forces are present.
