Televisions

There are two televisions in this house. The upstairs TV plays the usual four channels (badly, we're in a hilly patch), plus whatever's on the X-Box or the PS2. The other, though, that's a whole different ball game ( Read more... )

It look me a few minutes to realize you were talking about a -real- fireplace, because the company my Dad works for honest to goodness used to sell these 'fireplace' videos. Honest to goodness, just footage of a fireplace for the entire length of the video. Ah, the stupidity of it all.

We have a fireplace too, only ours uses ceramic logs and doesn't produce smoke. Not quite as homey, but it's nice. :)

You know, I remember those videos... A teacher in elementary school once said they make you think you're sitting by a real fire so you'll think you're getting warmer. I was always too freezing to pay proper attention to the video.

And, evilgrayson, I honestly believe that watching a fireplace is much more entertaining than anything that's been on television as of recent years.

Much kudos. There's nothing quite like a real fire (though perhaps I shouldn't be saying that to someone in Wales ;) ).

A real, honest-to-goodness, open fire is relaxing, warming, soothing, and in some ways erotic. But then again, that's just my view! ;)

I actually quite agree. The unfortunate thing about this fire is that the room has not-exactly-soft carpet tiles over a concrete floor...

Ah! So we can add 'large, soft rug' along with 'cookery books' to the present list then? *grin* Failing that, invest in thick shagpile carpets and/or large throw cushions!! ;)

.... I may not be a style guru, but I know what works well in front of open fires! ;)
