I am thinking about the way I communicate. And about the way I use this journal. There are a lot of things I don't share here anymore. No one who doesn't already know needs to know, and I don't feel this is an appropriate venue for sharing those things. As for your news, I would rather here it from you than talk about it with you here and feel ( Read more... )

Thank you so much. This is beautiful and I really needed it today. You sound wonderful. I go to New Mexico next week. When I get back let's find a place for tea and talk.

And yes you are loved indeed...

Thanks, glad you enjoyed. I am feeling hopeful because I think I was getting addicted to negative things, and afraid to cut them out for fear of losing the good associated with them. Back when I was with my ex, I wouldn't end it as long as there was 1 shred of happiness in there, even if I was unhappy 90% of the time. I am changing that now and looking for better options.

I think I am going to a meeting on Sat. Was gonna call tonight and ask if you wanted to join me. Either way, I will see you when you get back. How long will you be gone for? I hope everything is smooth and as painless as possible, and your dad's widow can find some common ground with you to make things easier.

i'm not sure if the female persuasion needs it, but males might want to coat their groinage with vaseline if walking that far.

i've only done 25 miles, but vaseline is wonderful.

and stockings for the feet (seriously, nylons under socks).

and, i'd recommend power gel (don't mix it with water, just suck it down).

Never thought about the nylons thing, but I imagine that would help with blisters. I always get blisters on my toes from socks in shoes, whereas I can hike round in Tevas with no problem. Vasline is kind of gross but I know you can get this glide stuff made for long distance runners, so stuff doesn't chafe. Thighs and armpit skin do that, too. I assume power gel is like that goo stuff, a bunch of concentrated carbohydrates? What worries me most is that I am completely unused to anything like this (and Jeff says it's pretty unnatural) so my legs may just turn to jelly. He walked 15 last year and says it's more a question of will than all else.

at some point- just like running- it just becomes a controlled state of falling, heh.

but yeah- the condensed carbohydrate thing. though you obviously know your body much better than i do (we haven't even met). and i wouldn't drink for two weeks beforehand. i was almost dead at 17 miles, heh, though i have done 12 in less than 3 hours drunk out of my gourd (and vomiting)- so, you never know: a shot of vodka every thirty feet might help.
