In which I ramble in lieu of working

Oh, oof, I seem to have entered the phase of writing where I become positively anti-social irl. Urrgh. I just get annoyed with everybody around me and their need to be focused on their own problems, or politics, or whatever when my writing is SO MUCH MORE INTERESTING, FOR REALS ( Read more... )

Mum was annoyed she missed Sherlock last night. I said not to worry, WE WOULD BE WATCHING IT AGAIN.
AND AGAIN.
A LOT.
So I think that's what we'll be doing tonight.

It's also not a spoiler to say I think Steve Thompson has been forgiven by fandom for the iffy bits in The Blind Banker, cause it's a cracking episode he's written here.

Oh yey. Really looking forward to watching it now!

So Moffat is in the fire and Thompson walks free? Whodda thunk, eh?

Personally I really liked Scandal, but then... I didn't hate TBB in the first place so what do I know? *lol*

I loved Scandal as well (ignoring the last two minutes) and just thought Banker was slightly subpar... Probably for the best that I'm not active in fandom, eh?

Re. Reichenbach... *presses replay*

(and someone give Freeman all the awards, please)

ALSO ALSO ALSO what was the point of Irene Adler just to have her get killed off? I guess to show how evil Moriarty was, but I was just annoyed at the random killing.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! That was so so stupid. It might have been a 'boy's movie', but that's no reason to either kill or neuter your female roles! The only slightly interesting woman in that mess was Mary, and she was thrown from the train!

Yes! I liked Irene and Mary in the first film! Mary was shown to be useful in her own way in the previous one, but she didn't do anything but look at naked Stephen Fry in this one :(

So basically, they replaced all the interesting female characters with gay (sub)text. As if it was an either/or proposition. Le sigh.

I tend to think of American versions of things I already know as Alternate Universes. Only way to not set myself up for disappointment (it works most of the time, but not always, so I understand your hesitance). Mara's Salander is quite different from Rapace - less psychopathic/unpredictable, more vulnerable/guarded/calculating, but equally dangerous. Mara's version is closer to the book!Salander, imo.

Pretty much BBC>every other Sherlock ever (at least right now, when I'm still reeling over the Reichenbach Falls). It's not that RDJ Sherlock is bad, it's just that it's... not Sherlock. ;)
