Happy Hannuka!

It occurred to me last night that my family has a really weird tradition. After we light the menorah, we all go hide each other's presents. Of course, this is just part of Hannuka to me, but does anyone else hid presents? Do you guys have any weird holiday traditions to share?

presents, hannuka

It's not exactly the same, but I've got a friend whose family always hides birthday presents... and will make it a sort of a treasure hunt, complete with maps and clues.

No...our family doesn't hide Hanukkah presents... in fact, we do everything as hurriedly as possible, since there are six different people who all have something different to get done. Um, no one tears paper, that's our wacky little routine. We also do Shabbat every Friday night, which could certainly be considered an odd ritual by some!

Why, is it supposed to be on some other day??

No, just most people ignore Shabbat completely; these days, if you don't live in Brooklyn or Israel than you only really practice your religion on high holidays and such. I was being facetious, Shabbat is indeed on Friday...
