My parents' party was awesome. We walked down for the fireworks (missed the parade, oh well) and then back up for dinner. My parents have pretty cool friends, fortunately. We played Apples to Apples to stay awake (I won) and watched the ball drop and commented on how Dick Clark sounds like death warmed over. All in all, good end to the old year

I remember applying for that! And yes, those essays were huge amounts of work; I remember writing one on Mansfield Park. Didn't get in (sigh). I hope you have better luck!
