I don't believe in moral absolutism.

Is it better for me to say something I don't believe (i.e. praise myself /allow others to praise me) or to go on telling everyone that I'm a person undeserving of praise? Is it right to tell potential employers/teachers/similar something in that vein, if I know everyone they contact will be selling themselves anyway? Should I try to form a positive image of myself, in hopes that repeating 'I am okay' will somehow make me stop thinking I'm unworthy? That sort of thing.

If the same praise keeps coming from different sources, then let it come. Obviously there's some sort of truth in it, whether you believe it or not.

As for the boss/employee relationship, don't paint yourself as inept by refusing to say that you're talented at anything. You'll have to bend the truth in order to get anywhere.

Don't view it as a falsification of the self, view it as a different facet.

I feel the same way about this sort of thing; generally what I do is just let my acoomplishments (i.e. drum major, GSA officer [although idk if I am anymore?]) speak for themselves. people tend to assume that if you can be that thing, you're a good person. but idk.
