Good times, good food.

Well, I just got back from one of the best dinners I've had in recent, or possibly any memory. I was with my roomies, and we went to quite possibly the most upscale seafood restaurant and GREATLY enjoyed ourselves, from the production that was the proper preparation of absinthe, to the sushi with freshly made wasabi (NOT from powder), to the ( Read more... )

You haven't been womanizing with those suggestable Kyrygyzstinian women, have you?

It's great to hear you're doing well. We all still talk about you and miss you and not a furmeet seems to go by where someone doesn't say, "I wonder what Furp is doing." or "If Furp were here..." or something to that affect.

Admittedly, a vain part of me wants to know details, but I can live without. Either way, the good news is here. I'm on location, the job and the people are good, and I'm enjoying myself.

Just mind you sources for your absinthe, laddie --in some parts of the world it's still got all the nerve toxins of the original wormwood recipe.

Now I never did get to find out exactly what brand of absinthe it was or what not, buuuuuut, this was a place where half of the sushi that was on the plate before us had caviar in it. This is perhaps a large presumption, but I don't think they would have the 'bad' kind of absinthe there.

It's a matter of national import policies and food&drug regs, and varies by country. Wildly.

The 'bad' kind of absinthe is illegal in the States and Canada and the UK, but can be got in Ireland and parts of Europe, apparently. Go fig.

I'm just sayin' it'd be a Good Thing to find out if you're slowly poisoning yourself with your new favourite drink, is all. ;]

Oh most indutibly so, good sir. And I shall endeavor to make sure first that I'm safe, second that I don't fall and hurt myself, and finally to make sure that I don't get backed over by any vehicles.

Sounds like a good place to eat. The reason for burning off some of the alcohol is because the effects from that tend to overshadow the effects from the thujone oil from the wormwood (which is what gives the mild hallucinatory effect). Cutting it with the water and adding some sugar is just to make taste a little less harsh and bitter (the latter also coming from the wormwood). Obviously, the real thing is not something you'd want to drink a lot of or regularly. Wormwood isn't all that good for you. Then again, neither is the alcohol. From what I've read, the health effects have been blown out of proportion to a degree so as long as you don't overdo it, there shouldn't be any major problem.

Now I want sushi....and real wasabi.
