Apparently he was from Buffalo, a big fan of the Bills -- I was born there and my parents are from there, so it's one of those random things we knew.
It's obviously sad for anyone to die, but in terms of public figures it strikes me as especially sad to lose good journalists, because they're so few and far between these days.
