Three dead members of the Orion Syndicate later, and I have my own ship. It's a small trading vessel, but equipped with a few definitely non-standard features. I managed to cut the details and access codes from the previous captain before I took off.
In my universe, the Orion Syndicate was exterminated by the Empire, which was never fond of competition. I need to learn more about the universe I now find myself in, but I'm not sure where to go. I'm tempted to go to Vulcan, but there's always the danger of meeting people who know the Storvik of this universe, or maybe even of meeting my own doppleganger face-to-face.
I've gone through the pathetic computer files on this ship (which needs a new name), and found very little useful information. No news about contemporary galactic politics, no history texts; just star charts, inventory, buying/selling prices, and supply/demand figures. It seems that something called "The Federation" exists more-or-less where my Empire is supposed to be, according to the star charts, but there are no details.
For my first visit, I'll pick a world that's on the edge of this "Federation", and not under its control. Perhaps Bajor.
