Summary:
Sequel/Companion to another story.
The story starts with Lestrade being on suspension from the Yard after the events of "The Reichenbach Fall." He's dealing with his own feelings about that while at the same time worried for his family - in this world Lestrade is the single father to three daughters (22, 20, and 17) and has been for quite some time. His family has ended up rather close with both Sherlock and John so they're all hurting. On top of this John has taken up a habit of hanging out on the roof of St. Bart's hospital and generally giving the impression that he is living on borrowed time.
In general we have Lestrade trying to help John, and himself, come to terms with the Fall and life after it. We see Lestrade go back to work, John come back to cases and start working on a book, and we see how much they try to get on with their lives. John also has suspicions about what exactly happened on the roof that day, which almost concerns Lestrade more than the roof haunting. John has Sherlock's iPhone and listens to the final conversation between Moriarty and him, and between him and John, rather frequently.
This will be the story of Life After Sherlock...and of how that gets flipped about when Sherlock comes back.
