This is beautiful (((hugs)))

Was it a specific event or just going out randomly onto the streets and setting up a cocoa-booth of sorts?

They go out every Wednesday and Thursday night, everybody piles into a big van with a bunch of paper cups and those big coffee-thermos-pump things filled with hot chocolate.

We parked on the edge of Chinatown and hit the streets with about 15 people and 10 full thermoses. The leaders know where all the homeless hang out at the end of the day, along certain streets and bridges, we also walked up past Portland Rescue Mission half an hour before the doors opened for the night, so that was pretty packed.

It's good, though. It's amazing how much of a difference it can make in their day just to have someone stop by with a hot drink and kind conversation. Some of them had made friends with various students, and seemed to really be anticipating next week even as we were leaving.

So, yes and no? :)
