It's true Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett could both be awesome Doctors on their own. But imagine how awesome they would be fused together. I think big here. :)
Gillian Anderson? I really can't see it, but I've been known to be wrong about things.
I'm terrible with actors' names and have no idea who most of those people are (I could click the links of course, but, well, I can't be arsed).
Paterson Joseph would be very cool though. I've always fancied Alan Davies for the role. I haven't seen him doing much recently, other than QI, but simply reprising his 'Jonathon Creek' role would work perfectly.

My choice is a fusion between Colbert and Stewart. Not British but with the two of them together that should not matter.
Or better yet a fusion between Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett

Fusions, eh? Interesting. Gaiman has always struck me as quite Doctorish on his own.

Paterson Joseph would indeed be ace, and apparently he's a frontrunner for the role at the moment.
On the other hand the idea of Alan Davies as the Doctor has never really worked for me and I'm not sure why. Like I say, I'm a bit strange.
