Okay, so, tried my hand for the first time with full-on double-pointed needles and holy shit, you guys, holy shit, I get it now.

I GET IT, I UNDERSTAND.

I now understand why you can literally knit in a circle for HOURS AT A TIME WITHOUT STOP.

I've been crocheting since the age of four but got into knitting a couple of years back and.... I think I'm actually a knitter, I think, because I love it and never get tired of it.

And now I have even more plans, and ideas, and I WANT TO TRY SOCKS, I AM ALREADY DOING PRACTICE SHAPING AND STUFFZ, ASDFGHJKL.

My tears of flail, let me show you them.

I have been knitting since I was 7, and let me tell you what: seeing a sock come into shape on your needles will make you drunk with power. I don't know why that item of all items does this, but seriously, I've knit dozens of socks and still every time I finish one, I want to run around the neighborhood, waving it in people's faces and shouting "DO YOU SEE THIS, MOTHERFUCKER!? THIS USED TO BE A PIECE OF STRING!"

Okay, so I only crochet, but Jesus. GRANNY SQUARES. BAG AFTER BAG OF YARN. A MISTER TUMNUS SCARF FOR EVERY MEMBER OF THE FAMILY.

WAIT UNTIL YOU FIND A YARN SHOP.

THEY ONLY SELL YARN.

When I started crocheting, I made about fifteen scarves in a row. And I was living in Florida at the time. When the hell would I need a scarf in Florida?!

I actually only learned how to actually granny square like a month ago. Decades after I learned to crochet, I shit you not, I FINALLY learned how to do granny square.

And the yarn shops here in Florida SUCK. Some of the good stuff but just... not enough, not nearly enough, and there's only two I can get to without driving for half a day, >_______>

The happiest aspect of my move up north next year after reuniting with the Guy will be all of the yarn shops up there, ♥ ♥ ♥

No shit! It took me about that long to learn how to do it, too. I just got so used to the rhythm of single crochets that I just didn't get around to it. Until my mom started making my nieces and nephews blankets. My sister knits. I'm trying to figure out when I can spend some time with just her so she can teach me. Four kids (soon to be five) and the whole "she lives in Indiana" thing kind of puts the brakes on that plan.

Oooo, there are some fabulous yarn shops here in the DC Metro area. We actually had a new one open up just a few minutes away from our house. If you have any immediate yarn needs, I'd be happy to help you out.
