I really enjoyed reading this. There doesn't seem to be enough fic about Winona around.

You really nailed it and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen.

A gem of a piece :)

Thanks, darling, <3

And yeah, there really isn't enough fic out there for her - and what is out there is sort of... aggravating, :|

This is fantastic. This is really fantastic. And I absolutely love your Winona; she's this perfect blend of strength and emotion that feels very real and works very well. And the entire thing...the flow of this is just excellent.

The ending part makes me sad, but the last line of this is gorgeous

Thanks.

I came away from the movie with a complete certainty that she was incredibly strong even if she's been through a lot, which is what I wanted to show here - always carrying all of it but still managing to go on anyway because it's who she is.

Oh wow!

Can I just say how much I love to stumble onto a fic with a non-neglectful, not depressed and horrible Winona? 'Cause they are getting to be such a cliche lately.

I love the way you have her keep going on for her sons, and the imagery of watching the sky throughout. I think a lot of writers forget that in this timeline Winona Kirk was in Starfleet and she must have loved space. You are an amazing writer and this is just beautiful:)

Yeah. As someone who's been in love with/married to the same person for over 14 years, if I lost him it would devastating to me emotionally, but I love our child and he would really become my reason to carry on. I can't believe Winona would just become a weeping mess who would abandon her sons and knowingly leave them with an abusive stepfather, when they would be all she had left of George.

In the TOS novels, Jim's mother is dead by the time he was 15, and I wonder if the new movie parallels that idea. Maybe she isn't even alive by the time he is acting like a hellion?

Plus as a working mom, I don't equate Winona being off world for her job as being neglectful or a horrible mother. As a modern woman, that is insulting...

Oh, wow, I love this. I have such a weakness for good parent/child stories, and I can see it being so like this; I love them being close but Jim is SO hurt, so damaged, poor thing. And so is she.

Thanks so much.

I wanted to show how completely damaged they both were, and how it built up despite the fact that they did both try, and how they keep going anyway. And the fact that just that resiliency ends up being something that connects them more than people would think because the SHARE that quality. Again, thanks so much, :-)

Wonderful. I went to see what Winona fic had been posted recently at where_no_woman before adding my own, and was enchanted with this. I love what you did with Tarsus IV; and your portrayal of Winona and her sons rings very true. Tragic, but still strong. Thank you for writing.

Thanks so much.

Tragic, but still strong.
This is exactly what I was trying to bring across so hearing this comment is really wonderful, :-)

I bookmarked your fic, btw, will be reading when I get five minutes to do it.
