This is a bad time to introduce you to Kazoku Game. I guess then

Let's talk about how fucked up it is for a teacher builds up a near father-like relationship with a middle-school boy by first breaking him down physically and emotionally to absolute rock bottom in an attempt to teach him how to deal with the harsh parts of life
or how that teacher will terrorize every single individual surrounding him for a bigger plan that's all "for the greater good"
how you as a viewer fall for the same stockholm syndrome -like acceptance of this psycho as the little boy does and roots for the tutor more than the boy's actual family.

all sorts of fucked up relationship is the air I breathe.

Mmmm, love Buffy and Faith so much. I always enjoyed 2maggie2 and local-max's thoughts on Buffy's role in Faith's downward spiral at the end of S3 -- that is some seriously thought-provoking tragedy.

That meta series is a gift. I hope to see the day all the remaining episodes are analysed!

Hahaha thanks for the warning!! As soon as I saw Alicia and Kalinda I was like okay not reading this. But then I got curious and wanted to read it anyway and I would have if it weren't for your DO NOT READ THIS message ^^ so thanks! (tbh I'm flattered you wrote me a personal warning :") )
When will I be allowed to read this ???

And you already know about my Alicia/Kalinda feelings.

Just finished watching The Heirs (not gonna talk about this.) and I couldn't agree with you more about Tan/Young Do! Go Bromance !!!! And I love them and everything but I don't know if support them as much as the mom team of Ki-ae and Eun Sang's mother (I don't know her name... ^^') imo they are pretty high ranked too !

PS - not going to miss this song !!!!

Girl, I got your back.

OBVIOUSLY HEE-NAM/KI-AE IS THE TRUE OTP although I'd say they were one of the more functional relationships on the show. If there were a category for "unexpectedly functional bromances"...

No one is going to miss that song.

*weird screaming* how I am supposed to think you're evil when you're acting like that ?!

True. Tan and Young Do are a little more fucked up.

Em having a little trouble with Eun Sang's mom's name. You say it's Hee-Nam and kwritten says it's Stella so you are kind of confusing me....

Sid/Tony, hold my feels pls.

yes yes yes to the Angel gang. My favorite group of misfit toys forever.

Klaus/Rebekah is supposed to be platonic.....but rofl yes. I can add pretty much the whole Mikaelson family, even Elijah/Rebekah has some toxic undertones despite fandom generally painting it in better light (well, I guess anything is better than Klaus, but if we're playing by those rules...)

Faith and the Mayor is definitely one of my favorites.

Katie and Emily in Skins sometimes fill this role for me. I'm sort of a sucker for exploring the toxicness of the twin dynamic.

Another recent favorite was Allison Argent and her aunt Kate on Teen Wolf. Aunt who was like a sister to her, the only one to really tell her the truth of what was going on, encouraged her to take a more active role -- but also a terrible psycho burnt down a whole family and tries to encourage her niece to kill her boyfriend. Actually, the whole Argent family is all sorts of fucked up and they are my favorites forever

Yes, the Mikaelson family as a whole would apply (although I only really care about the incest, because who am I).

HOW COULD I FORGET FAITH AND THE MAYOR!!! (I swear I say "how could I forget ______" in every comment here.)

Katie & Emily is also a good choice, although I was largely meh about post-gen 1. COMPLICATED SISTERS.

I don't watch Teen Wolf, but I have to say I'm tickled by Allison's aunt encouraging her to kill Scott (I presume).

Ug this list be still my heart. Your choices are great choices. Walter and Jesse, Sid and Tony, Buffy and Faith, the Mills sisters -- yes forever on those, I'm in total agreement. (Esp. for Walter and Jesse let's be real that basically wins this category for meeee).

This topic is so interesting to me it has dragged me out of my unofficial LJ hiatus to comment with some other of my faves because oh man fucked up relationships forever <3 <3

-- Stringer Bell and Avon Barksdale (The Wire) are the only ones who might beat Walter and Jesse for me. I won't say more because IIRC you haven't watched The Wire yet but oh man, everything about them is just so great in such a co-dependent way.

-- Seth Bullock and Al Swearengen (Deadwood), because people being forced to be allies even though they naturally distrust and dislike each other and are sometimes working against each other too is just the greatest. Really the interrelations of everyone on this show could count. Disparate people thrown together and forced to try to make a town and ( ... )

The most flattering thing you could say to me.

I will watch The Wire some day. Though tbh with you I live in fear of it.

I haven't watched Deadwood either! /o\ You make it sound tempting. Damn you.

Yes to Mellie/everyone. I can only really bring myself to watch Scandal casually, but Mellie is OBVIOUSLY my fave.

Yes also to Emily and Victoria. Which reminds me, I totally forgot about Emily and Nolan!!! /o\ /o\ /o\

House and Wilson ;_________; R.I.P. when that show was good.

Heee that's fair. It's spectacular, but it is also...a lot. A lot of sad. A lot of characters. A lot of feelings. But when you do get around to it I will be shocked if you don't love String and Avon (by the end of Season 3 if not much earlier).

I haven't watched Deadwood either! /o\ You make it sound tempting. Damn you.

*evil laugh* It's pretty fantastic. Lots and lots of morally grey characters, and AMAZING dialogue. I think you'd love Al Swearengen. He's a really fantastic no fucks given villain/very very very anti anti-hero. The kind of character who is truly a bad person, but is not only somehow sympathetic (to at least some degree), but also just likeable, and entertaining.

<3 <3 <3 MELLIE FOR PRESIDENT/QUEEN OF THE WORLD.

Yes also to Emily and Victoria. Which reminds me, I totally forgot about Emily and Nolan!!! /o\ /o\ /o\Yeeees to ( ... )
