Doubling up again today because yesterday was devoted to watching Catching Fire and then being emotionally dead inside. With no further ado:

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS POST, TBH

I actually read Merrick, the horror. And I sorta of...haphazardly read the rest in out of order. I read this whole series totally out of order. I think the ones I didn't were Pandora and Blood & Gold, even though I own both of them. I am still wondering WHY I put myself through Blackwood Farm and Blood Canticle. I mean I think it's because they were selling it as some kind RETURN OF LESTAT but I forced myself to spend like, 500 pages with Quinn what's-his-name before Lestat ever got to do much and then THE LAST BOOK WAS AWFUL ON SO MANY LEVELS. Anything past Memnoch is just...another series entirely, really.

I mean, you really can't argue with the premise of a brat prince vampire deciding to become a rockstar.

This is how I got into the books, tbh. My mom was reading it and I asked what it was about and she said vampire rock star AND I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE GREATEST THING I EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE. The Vampire Lestat is shamelessly my favorite. I thought Memnoch was okay at the time I read it ( ... )

LOL NO

I love our collective book 6-10 trauma tbh.

HOLD THE PHONE. YOUR MOTHER READ THE SERIES TOO? :D :D :D

A LOT OF FEELINGS AND SOMETIMES THEY EXPLODE. IN FIRE

You're right, he had his moments. ;D

I can't believe I forgot about Daniel/Armand! Totally felt that, ngl.

I'M P. SURE EVERYONE SHIPS CLAUDIA/LOUIS TBH. Rice was shamelessly dangling that carrot, too, so I wash my hands of all responsibility.

I mean. He turned her into a vampire and wrote a song for her when he calls her "angel and love" like. Generally parental incest is my hardline squick in all mediums, but I'm okay with it when it's presented in such a gothically romantic over the top way?

LOL, SAME. I think basically when it comes to VAMPIRES all bets are off tbh.

I'm glad I'm not alone in being satisfied with the performances of the main three in the Interview movie. I know a lot of people were WTF @ TOM CRUISE being Lestat, but speaking ( ... )

also LJ wouldn't let me add this to my initial comment BECAUSE APPARENTLY THIS LITTLE PARAGRAPH WAS JUST TOO LONG but:

ALSO YOUR FAITH/WESLEY FEELINGS ARE A+ I don't have a lot of feelings because I'm not super emotional over most things in BtVS/AtS, but every time you talk about Faith/Wesley, your posts always makes me go "wow what a good ship, I wish I was around in the hey day of it, why don't I ship this??"

You are better than the terrible way you see yourself. You can be better. (Maybe I can, too.)

#suddenly emotional

Yikes, I have had this tab open FOREVER, but I must talk about The Vampire Chronicles if given the opportunity. Also, you know how on every vampire show, one gets labeled the Angel and one the Spike? Really, this needs to be traced back to its roots, lol. One vampire is clearly the Louis and the other is the Lestat. Brooder and rebel.

I am not entirely ashamed to admit I've read virtually all of them

ME NEITHER. Really, I don't think anyone should be ashamed to admit they've read the first ones. They're just as good as any other genre books that people clamor over. The later ones suck, though.

Also, random: The Witching Hour is pretty good, IMO. 300 years of back story and generation after generation of witches, plus incest. Julien Mayfair got AROUND. Rowan is pretty awesome in her own book, when she's not falling in love with Lestat.

considering the series totally deteriorates after book 5Ditto. Though I liked Blood and Gold. Mainly because it was set in the past, and wasn't part of the cracky thing that the present ( ... )

I SIMPLY DID NOT KNOW YOU READ THE BOOKS TOO.

I have been ranting about this for five million years.

Yep, the first half of the series is pretty much among the best gothic fiction has to offer tbh.

I do have a fondness for witches. May have to look into that eventually. /grumble grumble

That is a pretty accurate breakdown of all the books, yes. Except I liked the 4th and 5th better than you (although I can see what you mean about them being detached from the story in the first three). I went and refreshed my memory on Blood & Gold and I can agree its existence wasn't too offensive. Better not to talk about the last two, really.

I never talk about books, it seems, probably because I don't actually read that many (and I'm also very very picky). I used to read tons, but that was before I discovered fanfic.
