I know. It's February 2013 already. This post is at least a month late. I have always meant to do a retrospective and look back at my year of making icons (same with other things in my life) but, as luck would have it, I've been sick, swamped with impossible deadlines at work, and had a root canal done. This was such an interesting read! You're definitely one of the makers who made the most progress in 2012, which is really cool when you see that you only iconned for half the year :O It's lovely to see the progress like this and read your thoughts of all the sets. That trope_overdosed set and everything after it has been so stellar, but there are definitely gems in the earlier posts as well. And one of my favorite things about the post is how you grew from being nervous about an icon battle to confident enough to do freaking turbo_rumble! :)

Thank you! :D I think the biggest help in improving was definitely the quests in theiconquest and doing them all so much. I mean, lots of folks icon like maybe once or twice a month, but I was doing it...I don't know. So many times (what an understatement)? Practice makes perfect and all that. And all the technical challenges I was in really kind of prodded me along to keep learning; if it had been once subjective theme after another I might not have ever really tried so hard.

Oh man, the battles! There was this time battles were all everyone could talk about and I was so envious! I think it was only a little while after that, when I decided I'd stop being so afraid and just give it a try, I didn't have anything to lose after all! I'm so glad. And turbo-rumble is amazing, hands down, from the icon making to the voting, I love how involved everyone is through to the very end. It's definitely one of the highlights of my year :)

AHHH thank you so much! ♥ It was very interesting for me to go back through my 2012 icon posts, and to remember some of my own thoughts as I was making them. I'm glad you thought it was interesting too :)

is just that your improvement in one years is amazing!, that kind of improvement takes years for an average person!
:D congrats!
I wanted to do this, but instead on on year, it'll start in 2005 XD and by 2013 my final result would not be close to yours

Oh, don't say that! We all have different pacing, and I lose ground just as much as gain it, lol. As long as you enjoy doing it, nothing else matters as much :)
