Most of you have probably heard of this fiasco already, but I'm just boosting the signal in case you haven't. It's a long read but totally worth it. As an aside, I'm utterly embarassed that this story originates out of Seattle. :-P

Goddamn. My heart just huuurt for that poor girl. I'm glad to see she's gotten so much LJ support; I hope they nail that Dina bitch to a cross.

I know I'm never flying UA again.

Eh, I've had Delta, United, and American all pull that shit on me. They always send me a vague apology with a vague reference their intent to step up sensitivity training and a $100 voucher.

... not that it's not horrible, having been through similar treatment almost every time I fly alone, so I don't mean to sound blase... my point is that *all* the major carriers do it, so a boycott won't work, much as I wish it would.

Oh, me too, believe me! I wished the person who posted about this the *best* of luck in getting a more proactive solution from United, and I did (do) mean that. And, for that matter, about 20 years ago I was more-or-less personally responsible for getting Delta to stop being assholes about service dogs, back at the tender age of eight (after a 7 hour delay, two missed flights, three agents refusing to let me board, one Atlanta cop backing them up, four people asking them to please call the number on my dog's (quite visible!) ID that said "Please call for questions/confirmation of certification"... and a partridge in a pear tree.) I *always* write the airlines a strongly worded letter telling them exactly what happened and exactly why it was unacceptable, and I always get an apology and a voucher... but considering I have to do that any and every time I fly alone no matter what airline, I don't see it improving substantially any time soon. Change is slow. Having said all that, when I think back to that incident twenty years ago, it's a ( ... )
