We'd be a helluva lot closer to the big red button, that's for sure. I like McCain as a person and I respect his service, but a man who's been through what he's been through simply cannot be expected to make a rational, level-headed decision about how to handle dictatorial, communist countries.
Same as I can't be expected to make a rational decision about the wind blowing through the trees after a tree hit my bedroom.
It's not a question of McCain's capacity to be rational, just a question of his capacity to be rational about *this*, when the PTSD part of his brain is screaming "imminent threat! Kill them before they kill you!"
He would panic, screech a little, change his mind, change it again, panic some more, then nominate Carrot Top as secretary of defense.
Not a one sided attack on him or anything, I used to really like him, just this last election worked some weirdo voodoo magic on him and turned him into an incompetent spaz.
