I adore this simply for its uniqueness and different perspective. I've never seen a fic from the hat's point of view before. :) I also like how it skips to Tom and then pulls back to the hat, with a quiet and perceptive parting comment. An interesting take on things, and I enjoy the idea of a hat experiencing curiousity-laden regret. ♥
I had started with the hat's point of view but then somehow it became Tom's point of view and then back to the hat. But I thought it worked well so I kept it that way. It's true. I figure that it's not often that stories are writing from the Sorting Hat's perspective so it was fun to write.
