Oh boy. This is the definition of creepy. It reminds me of some serial killers I've read about; how they think. I don't think Voldemort has the ability to see "beauty" in anything, even in suffering, but it isn't hard to believe Tom Riddle once had it, before he split his soul too many times and lost even that.

That's what I'm thinking. So many people see Riddle as this static character but I think that he actually changes a lot. I find it very much possible that before he split his soul is so many pieces that some things could affect him (in a way other than anger). Thanks for commenting :)

It's an understandable mistake. Real psychopaths don't change, unlike other people. But when you factor in magic, everything becomes possible.

I adore Tom being put in regular situations like having to work. A perfect shop for him, too. The tone was set right from the beginning. You've made him such a creeper, btw, but that's perfect. I love the way the last paragraph is phrased. It makes it unclear to me that this man mentioned is Tom, and that gives a lovely disconnect and makes it seem all the more eerie and intense. It's as if Tom is having an out of body experience, so taken over is he with this new discovery. The way he instantly and unthinkingly sees sexual pleasure in another's pain is powerful and strongly surmises his character. I love how you subtly put him getting off on it; it adds to the disturbing air. Wonderfully done.

Sadly I can't credit myself with Tom working at Borgin & Burkes, Dumbledore mentions it to Harry once. Tom worked there before getting his hands on Hufflepuff's Cup. Even up coming Dark Lords have to pay rent somehow, right? lol.

The last paragraph is what first came to me, and then I could picture who that woman was and what had happened to her before.

I didn't remember that. XD But I'm giving you credit anyway, because you're the one that fleshed it out to me. ;D

I pictured the woman as Bellatrix. I'm sure that's not it, especially because of the fear in her eyes, but I pictured it that way anyway. XD ♥

I shall take undue credit gladly in this case. hehehe

Yea, it's not Bellatrix. Plus, I'm sure Bellatrix would have been quicker to her wand. lol. But feel free to imagine her anyway you like.
