You know, I don't even watch Criminal Intent, but I read this because you wrote it and I knew that it would be touchingly gorgeous.
I was right. I don't have to know all about the characters to see and understand the faltering tenderness, the hesitation of being not-quite-in-love, the slow, miraculous dance we all do. This is beautiful. You leave me lacking words once again. And that's a good thing. A very good thing.
Ohh -- I really liked how you transitioned Alex from thinking about Carolyn to describing and thinking about Barek, just as she can only think about Carolyn when sleeping, and Barek when awake. :)
mmmmmmmmmm... :) And the 'description' of the coffee: the coffee always tastes the same (bitter, complex, anchoring) I thought was a reminder to me of how one might view Eames... :)
