Well, that explains a lot. Specifically, why Buffy and Spike's characterizations swing so abruptly from one episode to another after that. Though it does mean I have to make a few minor corrections in my latest theory. Doesn't screw it up though - everything's clicking into place now. I think this last bit of information officially ends my season 6 issues. (Nice to know I'm not the only one still trying to wrap those after 2 years. *G*)

But as much as I thematically love S6 [well, in a certain sense], the fact remains that, like you said, it just swung back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and I didn't know what the writers were trying to say. And back in 2001 on the Buffy Cross & Stake, when we first learned that they were shifting the plot, the visible excitement that almost everyone had about the upcoming season just kinda got...confused. Everyone was commenting on the HUGE change between Tabula Rasa and Smashed. Gah. Apparently my S6 issues are still loud and roudy. I still have to do what I've always meant to do and objectively analyze Buffy's actions and ( ... )
