Wasn't it just beautiful? I've heard lots of people say they liked it less than Volume 1, but for me it was just so much better.

Because I'm a girly girl and prefer plot to lots and lots of blood.

Yes. And YES. I'm still trying to write about how Vol. 2 is just so much more real, and human, still with the fighty and the gore, but also with the complexities of human emotion and motherhood.

I love lots and lots of blood, but combine it with plot and emotion and angst and I'm your girl. It may be stupid, but I'm almost disappointed in people when they say they liked Vol. 1 better. It stands together beautifully as a four-hour piece, but it needs the second one. Both Beatrix and Bill were so ferocious and beautiful and flawed and selfish and the story needs that to make it more than a samurai tribute movie. It needs the humanity. And some people just don't get it, while I get it all too much. I'm glad you do too.

Yes, Pai Mei did indeed rule. Especially what he does to Elle. Twas a shame he got punked out though. But, all in all, was a great movie. Plan on seeing it again because I apparently missed a part in the hotel room. Or so my friends tell me.

Oh man, you missed a part between Beatrix and Bill? Those scenes were just beautiful and amazing. But Pai Mei's punishment of Elle was awesome as well...too bad she poisoned him. :(

Yep, you just summed up exactly how I felt about the movie. I was gobsmacked with love--gobsmacked, I tell you!

I forgot to mention in my post about KB how excited I was when "Goodnight Moon" started playing. I always have that song on my mp3 player. I got a few weird looks when I bounced up and down and sang to it in the theater.

Gah, yes. I want to see it over and over. I wrote in my [still unfinished] review that I've never really loved characters in films so much as I loved Beatrix and Bill. I always need more time, such as with TV characters and book characters. But they were just so terrible and beautiful...sigh.

And dude, I know! It always shuffles by in my iTunes, and all of a sudden it started playing and I squealed out loud. After I got home I looked up the lyrics and they're absolutely perfect for our OTP Bill/Beatrix. Sigh.
