Actually, Book says that. But that phrase I think predates Firefly. Totally with you on the others.

But no, I really think it was originally from Firefly! Because before I had even watched it, around a year ago, octopedingenue told me that it had originated there and gave me the quote and everything and it makes sense...!

Hmm, I saw Our Mrs Reynolds the first time it aired, and I don't remember thinking "the special hell" was a brilliant new phrase, but I also may not have been paying that much attention. And I can't say I specifically remembering hearing the phrase before last year, so maybe that is where it started. Go Firefly.

Incidentally, there's a note at the top of that unfilmed ep you linked to that implies there are more unfilmed scripts floating about -- would you happen to know where they are? I haven't found them at that site, though I haven't looked very hard -- still reading the one you linked to. And I'm convinced it's real, all the voices are right, and there's enough shooting instruction I can totally see the sets and even some of the camera moves. Only thing I'm having trouble with is mentally adding flares in certain shots, but I'm working on it. ;)

Gah, I wish I could have Firefly street cred like you. I can remember the night it premiered so accurately. I had my TiVo set to record it, and I turned to FOX to watch it, and all of a sudden, it was the Giants instead. And I flipped through the TV Guide, thinking I was wrong, and I went frantic and it was bad. So I guess it really was the Giants' fault for being in the lead that year. Will always be bitter about that [and then they ended up losing TERRIBLY at the world series! gah!].

But no, I haven't seen any of the other scripts, I just randomly found that one. If I do, though, I will be sure to tell you. It's so weird, though. Reading this. Because it's not like reading a book, where you imagine the characters and the landscapes. There are actual people who were supposed to be acting this out, and the sets are real, so like you, I can imagine it perfectly [complete with the camera moves *g*] -- but it never happened. It's really weird. I have urges to icon this, but I never can. This is the weirdest situation. ::is

I'm freaked out yet again by our brains. I was planning on posting something like this. I had all those phrases in mind because I remember just picking them up from LJ and then absolutely cackling each time I heard one while watching Firefly.

I'm going to read that script as soon as I get home.

I read the script the day after you posted, I think! I am so sad that Jayne and his turtle and his distraction techniques will never be filmed. *sob* I also got the feeling that Kaylee's part was hinting at the girl being a little dark. I might be off about that because I read it on and off and some details never stayed in my brain.

We Firefly fans should start a petition for the turtle to be included in the movie. I'm very serious about this.

Huh, I should read it again. I kinda read it in a hurry because I was so excited. Because any character I love going dark is like rainbows and puppies for me. If that made any sense.
