Incurable Desire (LOTS Fic)
Another ficlet written for a LegandLand challenged based off the song "Lost in Paradise" by Evanescence.

Timeline: Before Season 2
Incurable Desire
Kahlan leaned up against the tree as she tried to regain her breath that Richard just took away. He kissed her good night before her watch. It always gave her the most incredible feeling she ever had. But, she was not human like everyone else, she was a confessor. Love with a man could not be in her life.
She felt herself slipping away from reality into this fantasy paradise with Richard. A fantasy world full of love and fulfilled desire. She promised herself she would not let Richard be anything else than the Seeker to her. But he became her seeker. Kahlan could not imagine a world without him. Her world would be empty. Kahlan closed her eyes, hoping it would help quell the feelings inside. She tried to focus on other things. Kahlan felt a blanket being draped over her shoulders. She turned around to face Richard.
“You looked cold,” he smiled. Kahlan had not even noticed she was crossing her arms, holding them in tight.
“Thank you, but you should be sleeping,” she responded and turned away.
“Are you upset with me over the kiss?” He asked. Kahlan sighed.
“No, I could never be. I am upset with myself for feeling this way. I cannot love. I know that. But you are making it hard,” she said softly. Richard gingerly wrapped his arms around her.
“I am the Seeker and I will find a way for us to be together. Believe in me, Kahlan.”
Tears slowly rolled down Kahlan’s face. She wanted to believe him, but she felt herself becoming lost in this paradise. A paradise where Richard could love her and she could love him back.
Leaning against him and welcoming the embrace, she let herself enjoy this moment in paradise- even if it caused her to fall.
