Wonderful story, very sweet. I would think they wouldn't tell Ben the whole story - consensual incest is a concept only adults can grasp, I think. I like Sam slowly getting better. At some point he might even be able to take a part-time job.

And I hadn't even thought about how BBQ could trigger him. Great detail!

Good point about Ben. I always imagined that more time had passed in this AU. Sam doesn't go outside for months, so I think it's conceivable months/years would have passed. So with that being said, I think Ben would be older and maybe they didn't intend to tell him, but he's not blind and he lives in the house with the three of them.

Oh Sam getting a part time job is a great idea for a fic. I'm going to think about that.
