The background of this strike/riot is never explored (because it's entirely the work of criminal masterminds, naturally) and South African history is complicated and mostly unknown to me; it would be interesting to look at what was actually going on at this time.

I read the first Maisie Dobbs nobels with some delight, but then my interest kind of petered out. I don't know why, really.
