My Final Take on The End

Even now, after the end of LOST, so many of us are still ruminating, remembering, theorizing anew. In so many ways, this constant contemplation and exchange of ideas has been one of the best gifts of this fandom. Quite apart from being part of a cultural phenomenon, it’s made me -and many others-think deeply about subjects we may have avoided, ( Read more... )

Wonderful review, evanesco! I feel like I re-watched it through your eyes but you seem to have experienced it almost exactly the way I did - sobbing most of the whole time. I read somewhere (probably on the Fuse) that someone said a really great ending to a story gives you catharsis and a sense of hope. I felt both those at the end of LOST; also heartbreak....JAAAACK!; happiness....Suliet/Jate SQUEEEEEE!; and a sense that it really ended. I know for some fans the end felt open-ended but it really didn't for me - probably because I'm a Jack fan first and foremost.

Anyway - thanks for this. Well done!

Hey, Dany!

Thanks so much for your wonderful words. I've never been so affected by a viewing experience, and I'm feeling serious withdrawal over the lack of Foxy these days, lol!

I plan to re-watch over the weekend. Makes me sad and happy at once, go figure.

See you at the Fuse; it's so nice to still be hanging out there with everyone!

Outstanding analysis. The creative team took a big chance with that ending. A serious examination of the concept of redemption/and or salvation elicits snickers usually. I agreed with you on every point and enjoyed this well written essay.

Concept, Plot, script, production and acting and that wonderful score. It has been a hell of a ride.
