Before They Were Stars, They Had to Work Through the 80s

So, not too long ago, some friends and I had a girls' movie night with Dirty Dancing and a cute movie I had never seen before called Shag*. The copy of Dirty Dancing was a little old (as in, from when the movie was released on VHS the first time), so all the previews were ancient, and the commercials managed to encapsulate everything that was ( Read more... )

Ha! That's hilarious. And yes, being from NC, there were amusing "shag" moments, including when the woman I helped with teaching kindergarten Sunday school started talking about her shag lessons and how much fun she had shagging. I think I managed to keep a mainly straight, "Oh, that's interesting" face. And hoped the children didn't remember this later and become scarred for life.

Perhaps they will grow up to be defensive shag lovers like one of the friends I watched it with, who gave me a mighty >:( every time I laughed. Better than scarring anyway.

Yeah right! If Brad and those models ate Pringles all day, they'd be saggy as anything. Come on, The Eighties, you think we were born yesterday?

(I was born at the end of '89 ^___^ )

They burned all the calories from the Pringles off with their FEVER. That's how they maintain that physique.

Oh, dear. I'm getting old.

I still love a lot of the same stuff I watched when I was a kid, so I've been in the process of recollecting a lot of the stuff I got rid of. Watching old previews is one of my favorite parts. It's weird when you can practically recite a trailer that's over ten years old XD

It really makes me want to watch my first run Disney movies, but then again, the previews on those movies are for the films sitting next to them on the shelf.

I loooove old commericials from the 80's. I watched my old copy of The Land Before Time a few months ago, and I laughed and laughed at the Pizza Hut commercial that ran before the trailers.

I think I have a copy of that. I may need to dig that up for comparison purposes.
