Ooo, I've been on the lookout for something new to read. Maybe I'll give this a try. That platypus sex, yeah, that got me right there, lol.

It's a really good book, but, yeah. Platypus sex. I have no idea what he was thinking.

Did not read past the cut, but . . . waitaminute. Frozen wasteland? Monster that eats you? Dude, he totally had the same thing in Endymion. I guess he writes in so many genres that people don't notice similarities? (Or maybe they're different enough that they don't really count as rehashing?)

I hope it's that they're different enough that it doesn't count. I haven't gotten to Endymion, but my inner cynic is going "Hmmmm," now.

I swear I saw a book like this at a bookstore ages past, only it was about Shackelton's Expedition, with added Ice-monster. I've looked all over the place but can't give you any proof it exists. And I'm sure it's not this one either, which is very frustrating. *grumble*

Man, look at all these failed Arctic expeditions. Rampant Ice Monsters aside, what the hell was wrong with these people?

P.S. Do not get in Shackelton's way.

OK, anything with platypus sex and ice monsters needs to be read. Added to my list!

They're definitely good talking points for introducing the book. Hey, even the worst of it is hilarious!

Platypus sex? LOL. Just... lol.

A mate of mine has recently read this, but when I asked her about it, there was a suprising lack of platypuses in her answer. I wonder why? :P

And hey, your back! I was wondering what had happened to you XD

Obviously your friend was not as struck by the platypuses as I was. Perhaps she paid more attention to the actual story.
