Warnings: I’ve known the author for upwards of 10 years. I am in no way an unbiased reviewer.

Bizenghast by M. Alice Legrow is the story of Dinah Wherever, whose parents are very, very dead. She is sent to live with her aunt in the shore town of Bizenghast, MA, which is isolated, rundown and frankly the last place on earth one should send a ( Read more... )

Ah, is this by the lady that is Sarah Noble on FF.net? I remember her! It's been ages since I've even been near FF.net and I forgot all about her. Bizenghast sounds exactly like the sort of thing I would like a lot. Sadly I haven't any money at the moment. I'll have to check it out one of these days though.

Yep, this is Sarah Noble, though I don't think she's updated for a while. You might be able to check Bizenghast out of a library, depending whether your library carries manga or not. I know it's been bought by a few.

My library does have manga, but it all seems to be Ranma1/2 or Sailer Moon. They might get it though, you never know. Or maybe I'll be able to take a look at it the next time I go to the bookstore. If it's really good I could get my parents to buy it for me probably.

Well, your library might get it in six or seven years, if they're up to Sailor Moon now. Well, I hope you do get a look at it at some point!

Holy crap! She wrote this? I think I've seen her fandom stuff about. This book actually caught my eye at Walden's the other day- I thought about snagging it, but was in a hurry. I'll have to go back!

M. Alice has some HP fanstuff around as Sarah Noble and sadalice, but mostly she has her art gallery. Which I love (especially mermaids!). Glad you hear you'd thought Bizenghast was interesting.

So SHE'S the infamous Sarah Noble!

Wow. Did not know that.

That book looks creepy-interesting. ^_^ I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

I remember seeing some of her art on Elfwood, and really liking it. I'll definetely have to camp out at borders for a few hours, or make my library buy the book.

Well, we used to talk about each other all the time on FF.net, so it doesn't surprise me that you found us through there. Aha. I hoped you liked Bizenghast.

I have it already =) I didn't think it quite lived up to the hype, but then, what ever does?

Still, I'll get #2 to see if it converts me. Speaking of, any idea when it's due out?

I actually have no idea how much hype was around Bizenghast, but knowing Tokyopop, I imagine it was quite, er, zealous.

I don't know when #2 will come out. I know M. Alice has just finished her pages for #2, but there will probably be revisions, publicity, etc. before it comes out.
