Oh Laura...
I'll be honest, I haven't quite read the entire thing yet. I skimmed a little, and read the end in detail. Little read or no, Laura's such a sweet, heartbreaking girl and you keep getting the emotion just right.

I think you could write pretty much anything and I'd read it. I love the way you write. You're getting such a good grip on Laura these days, and your Domino (you wrote Domino <3) is great too. Course now I'm thinking Domino/X-23 would be amazing and hot, and that's a pairing that hadn't crossed my mind before.

Thank you, I'm so glad you liked it. I was actually hoping you'd like the Domino (I think the world needs more Domino, like, badly). I'll be honest--the idea of Domino/X-23 is hot to me too, but Laura's jailbait, and I like to think of myself as having *some* morals. (Well, a few.) Plus, Domino's slept with Logan, so that would just be weird.

I keep forgetting that the U.S. age of consent is a lot higher than ours. How old is Laura, anyway? 16/17? She wouldn't be jailbait here. Forgot about Dom/Logan, as well. I can't say it would bother me, but I can see how it would be weird. I don't see Logan liking the idea, either.

Yeah, the age of consent in 18 in the U.S., and Laura's been 16 for the past 8 years or so. So, no legal sex for her unless she moves somewhere else or gets a future AU written about her.

I think it's a delicious pairing, though. Too bad the kinkmeme is defunct.

This entire thing was so, so good. Hard to read, and what jumped out in particular was Emma, changing the syllabus from (trying to think what book-- "Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry"? for HS students?), because hearing about a maiming might traumatize Julian, but of course, Laura and her history are invisble again. Also, literary-fiction voice is so rare in fandom, and you do it so well. (And your Dom is fantastic)

:D Oh, the story I was referencing was actually Stephen Crane's "The Monster"--probably an obscure story, and if I'm remembering correctly it was actually intended for children but ultimately considered too gruesome. So of course, Laura has to suffer through a story about a child prostitute instead. Which was probably a really heavy-handed move, now that I think about it. Oh, sigh. Anyway, thanks for the review! I'm overjoyed you liked it!

man I took so long to read this in full; and it is AMAZING. Oh my poor dear Laura, she needs a hug so hard (she needs a thousand hugs). Love the way you write her perception of the world, all the little details, especially with Domino, and the dynamics with all the X-kids were brilliant too; and the whole passage with Logan was heart-wrenching.
