Those pictures are AMAZING!!! I wish we had more fireworks at festivals. :C Psh every county is so broke that even the 4th of July fireworks were held on the 5th in Dallas.
What all were in your dishes? They looked yummy. ^_^
i love love love love love fireworks, and even though this year was actually a rather "tame" recession show, it beat the pants off anything i've ever seen state-side. much like a well choreographed play, divided into acts, and with musical accompaniment. i really hope we can watch them together some year! in yukata^^
thank you for the compliments on the food.^^ the dishes included inari-zushi, rolled omelets, vegetarian "meatballs" with ketchup and mayo, tofu with korean bbq sauce, and kimchi pancakes. i enjoy making super elaborate bento, so everything but the ketchup and fried tofu was made from scratch.^^
I have a yukata that i'd LOVE to wear to a legit matsuri but I lack the shoes and am JUUUUUST too tall to do the fold under thingy (you know to make the yukata the right length). I try and its only like an inch fold so it just falls. :C BUT I do want to get a yukata for my niece and jinbei(?) for my nephew. ^_^
Perhaps you can show me how to make some lovely bento? I'd like to eat something other than 7-11 for 6 weeks. I'll have a heating surface of some sort in my dorm.
oh, no! you know, there are tall girl yukata. the ohasshori is sort of important for a ladies' kimono.^^; when choosing next time, get one that is at least your height, and up to one head taller. but shoes, basically anything with an open toe is game. sandals, flip-flops, heels - try to choose something summery that's pretty (of course!^^) and matches your yukata.
i'm certainly more a student than a master of bento, but can show you what i know^^; you can also come over for dinner any time^^
