Last night was the last session of the fencing course I've been doing where we were learning. Next week is"box night". Basically, no more lessons, but those of us in the beginner class will have our own competition with a referee and the electric sensors. Should be fun! :D ( Read more... )

Maintenance dear boy.... You should change your oil filter every 2-3000 miles....

How long have you had that one on there to get THAT corroded?!!!

Oil was still transparent and green. It has an oil change at least every 12 months. I do know how to look after my bike :p

No more than 2000 miles, slightly less if I've got my dates right. Dear boy :p

I know how to maintain my bike. The corrosion is from winter usage, where roadsalt has gotten under the side panels. Every 150 to 200 miles in conditions like that, I completely rinse off the bike to clear salt off the steel, but it seems that I wasn't thorough enough to get to this bit. He said it was also possible that a piece of grit or something had impacted it at some point and caused an imperfection allowing the corrosion to start and spread.
