Wayne's main concern, other than fixing things on paper for the pub, was to fix up things on the inside. Lou's widow had admitted - as the pub had belonged to her father was the original owner (where the name came from) and had handed it over to Lou as of as a gift of faith for marrying his daughter - that the faith her father had shown was poor judgment. But she had high hopes that Wayne could make it look like it used to - and attract similar clientèle. Which, of course, if Wayne couldn't would put him in the category of completely fucked as he had no other plans for life.

And that was why he was meeting Emma today. To talk about fixing things up - and staying within his budget. He was sitting at the counter when he heard the knock, and quickly hopped off the stool to open the door. They ad a few hours before he was planning to open.

Emma was all business and gave Wayne a smile as he let her in, although the inside of the pub made her rather wish to wrinkle her nose instead. When Emma went drinking, it was usually to a place much posher than this, and the few times she's gone 'slumming', things hadn't ended very well.

Walking over to the bar, Emma put her tote on what she felt was the neatest spot, and pulled out a self-inking quill and parchment notebook.

"Right then," she said, serveying the place, "I know you have to open in a bit so I don't want to take too much time. Why don't you tell me what you think needs changing and what sort of look you're going for, and then I'll add in my opinion."

Wayne smiled in return, closing the door behind Emma. Silently to himself, he bet that she didn't think too much of the interior. Not that he did, either. But according to his grandfather, it was a neighborhood place, and those places had to be kept up and cherished. Or something. Wayne had only been half-listening.

Wayne reclaimed his seat in one of the stools, and looked about him, all the while thinking he had to stay within the budget he'd started to set aside for this since before Lou kicked it. "The furniture, without a doubt. I don't want something too posh and upscale. Just something nice and simple. So it looks like we clean at least once a week."

A wrinkle of concern crossed Emma's forehead at that. "Do you mean to say that you don't clean at least once a week? Because that may be a good deal of your problem right there."

Writing down a few notes, she walked over to the nearest table to look it over. "Sturdy and simple then. Round or square tables? Or some of both?"

Emma took another look around, squinting at the bar itself. "The bar is salvageable, although I would give it a new coat of varnish. How do you feel about the shelving you have behind it. Is it adequate to hold the supply you want?"
