Preliminary test results from Monday's blood draw shows that there's a high likelihood that Zachary is allergic to dogs and possibly peanuts. There's a referral to a specialist for follow up, given that the blood test isn't as accurate as the skin test. That and the pediatrician already knows we're not getting rid of Indy. (What? I'm just gonna toss it out there in case it hasn't come up yet, that there's different allergies to different dogs. Everyone in my family is allergic, for example, to poodles -- proven in my uncle's case in skin-prick.

Uncertain if I already posted this.

I am glad you're not getting rid of your dog. We grew up with a dog that had been abused, and so were not allowed to touch it. If I knew then what I know now, we would have worked to get the dog used to us. But having a dog that no one was allowed to touch was problematic.

Did not even KNOW how allergic I was until I got married and Karl made me go get tested. Extremely, which is why we have cats instead (not allergic to them at all).

However, Karl tested high for a number of allergens when he was two, and they took all his stuffed animals away, the carpet, the curtains, everything. It was a traumatizing experience for him. So... best not to do what Karl's parents did.

Indy is part of our family, and Zach's symptoms are more that he has very frequent colds. If it comes down to a lot of Zyrtec, frequent vacuuming and being careful while petting, we can do that. Zach actually likes Indy, and we wouldn't want to disrupt that. Not that we want to make Zach's symptoms worse if he *is* allergic, but there has to be a happy medium somewhere.
