I haven't read the books, and I've only seen Catching Fire this past year (which I was crazy about btw). Would I have enough knowledge to read this fic anyway or would I be lost?

Do you recommend the books?

(And I swear this is not just an excuse to FINALLY get to use rockwellian's marvelous Katniss icon. Really.)

I adore the books to pieces, so yes, I definitely recommend them. I'd be reluctant to have you read this fic until you've read them as it will spoil you pretty badly for stuff that comes up. Some of the details aren't likely to make much sense without having known what happens, and I think it'll have greater impact if you're familiar with the source material.

It's a gorgeous icon. Katniss is one of my favorite heroines ever. I adore her to pieces.

I didn't feel I missed anything jumping into the second film because I knew just enough - and I fell in love with Katniss immediately. She is so so much Buffy's heir, spiritually, thematically etc it's just CRAZY.

but never a Katniss icon because there are already so many beautiful ones out there, including Rockwellian's. (it is lovely isn't it?) Maybe at some point.

I missed the third movie in theaters damn it and I'm waiting for it to be available on instant view before I see the last installment at the theaters but in this instance I might go ahead and rent the DVD.

(I also missed Mad Max Thunder Road because I had no idea it had so many female characters. Kicking myself over that one too.)
