I am right there with you on the anxiety issues. My heart jumps every time the damn doorbell rings. I love seeing all the costumes, though, so I persevere.

I'm a Halloween grinch and don't open the door. To my mind, if my house isn't decorated, if I don't display ANY indication I want to participate they should just pass me by...

I'm not as bad as a friend of mine though, who has healthy options she hands out - carrot and celery sticks and the like. She says with the increasing obesity epidemic in our young people she sees no reason to encourage them to pig out on stranger's sweets! I'm only surprised she hasn't been "tricked".

I really like the idea of Halloween parties and having a good time, but I am also seriously uncomfortable about the fact that we say for 364 days a year that kids shouldn't talk to strangers, but on the 365th day we encourage them to go round the streets and knock at their doors to ask for sweets from them!

Mags is very particular about what candy she'll eat. Mostly plain M&M's, plain Hershey bars, Starbucks & Skittles. There were several occasions where she walked up, looked in a bowl of candy, and then walked away without picking out anything.

People would be all "Bzuh?" and I'd be there shaking my head saying to myself "But mommy would have liked that Milky Way bar...."

It's never a dull moment with her.
